Neochetina identification

Two weevil species in the genus Neochetina (N. bruchi and N. eichhorniae) have been introduced into several countries to control water hyacinth (Pontederia crassipes). This guide illustrates some of the features which allow identification of these two species. The features shown should allow recognition of the two species from photographs, or in the field.
