iNaturalist gratitude card

iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org) is a citizen science project that is building a comprehensive database of life on earth from sounds and photographs posted by users. As an active identifier on iNaturalist, I spend a substantial amount of time suggesting identifications for plants and animals (but particularly weevils) that have been posted to the platform.

This month: inspired by H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, we have a Mecomastyx lacordairei (left) and a Mecopus bispinosus (right) laying waste to a city. SPECIAL BONUS: Another member of the family also got inspired and depicted the glorious triumph resulting from the arrival of a starship which destroyed the weevils, leaving them in a dismembered heap.
